Madison UMC welcomed Jim as Senior Pastor
in June 2009 along with wife Margaret and son Mike. Prior to
coming to Madison UMC, Jim served as Senior Pastor of First UMC
Long Beach, having previously served churches in Jackson,
Booneville, and Collins, MS, as well as Lexington, KY. He was
also campus minister at the Northeast Mississippi Community
College Wesley Foundation. Prior to entering the ministry he
worked in disaster response, including serving as the Deputy
Director for Planning and Operations at the Mississippi
Emergency Management Agency.
A native of Miami, Florida, Jim has called
Mississippi home since 1979. He is a graduate of the University
of Miami with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and also
holds a Master of Science degree from the University of Southern
Mississippi in Geography and Planning. He completed his Master
of Divinity degree at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore,
KY. Jim plays at golf, reads history for fun, likes railroading,
and has been known to play the trombone.
