The Commission overseeing the United Methodist General Conference announced on March 3 that they have made the decision to postpone the General Conference that was scheduled for August of 2022 and have moved it to May of 2024. They have cited concerns over delegates from other countries being able to acquire visas as well as concerns over vaccinations for those delegates. You can read their decision here: https://www.umc.org/en/content/general-conference-further-postponed-to-2024. Our church has routinely updated our website about General Conference issues, and you can find those reports here: http://www.madisonumc.org/townhall.

Our Administrative Council will again soon to discuss these issues and we will post more news in our upcoming newsletters and through our social media accounts as more information becomes available.

Our pastor has already begun to meet with Sunday School classes about General Conference and would like to meet with classes, groups, and individuals to talk about this decision and about the General Conference. Please contact him (601.856.6058) to schedule a time soon to meet with your group or with you.

Let us all be faithfully praying for the leadership of our General Conference, Annual Conference, and church during this difficult season. God has certainly gifted us a wonderful church family with so many ministries and missions and we will focus on our calling, ministry, and life together as we also pray and walk through these issues within our denomination.
