A NEW ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS (DAILY DISCIPLES) HAS STARTED

How complicated is your relationship with Jesus? If someone would have asked me several years ago, what my relationship with Jesus looked like, I might have answered, “Well, it’s complicated.” There were parts of my Christian life that I felt like I had buttoned up, but also felt like I had several loose ends. The small groups that I have been involved in over the years here at MUMC, have helped me grow in my relationship with Jesus. Many times people in those small groups have helped me tie up those loose ends. Trying to live our lives in a Christ like manner can be a daunting task. I fear that too many people today crumble under the weight of the expectations of what it means to be a Christian. As I’ve grown closer to Him, I now realize that although the relationship is critical, He doesn’t want it to be complicated. In the past year or so, Ben and I have talked about me leading a small group. I wasn’t on board at first, but I’ve decided that now was the time for me to go ahead and do it. I prayed about it a lot and had several people in a few different small groups that I am part of encourage me to do it. My hope honestly would be that every person that attends worship with us here on Sundays would get plugged into a small group. They are the backbone of any church. So often I think we focus on the things we SHOULD DO, OR HAVE TO DO as Christians. Today I realize that all of those things are things we GET TO DO because of our relationship with Him. My purpose for wanting to teach a class is to help other people shift the focus of our relationship with Jesus from PRESSURE that we may feel that the relationship brings to the PROMISE that we get to live in because we know Him."
